Court is like….

An overglorified, drawn out football game.  The lawyers are play callers, the judge is the ref, the clients are the players.  Play call, offense, defense, huddle, play call, offense, defense, challenge flag, touchdown.  Over and over and over and over again.  For 3 days.  And I got to be a player.  My trial was about the car accident I was in over 4 years ago.  In order to keep myself calm, I compared it to football.  (FYI, I’m a Redskins fan.  One of my lawyers was mad that I kept refering to them because he likes the Ravens.  My trial, my choice in team.  Thank you.)  My testimony, which was over an hour and I was cross examined by 4 lawyers each more than once, was a strategic play in the game.  It was on the goal line.  4th and inches.  Campbell (one of my lawyers) hands off the ball to Portis (me) and I break through the defense (Jury and other lawyers) to get a touchdown (other lawyers can’t argue with what I said and the jury sides with me).

Today.  On the 17th of March, 2010, I finally got the closure I needed to 4 years of ups and downs in an overglorified football game.  And we won by a landslide.
